Young Entrepreneurs

Hello,

I’m Lindsey, a full-time university student, and owner of Lindsey’s Letters & Design. I’ve made custom items since September of 2020. Specializing in promotional items such as water bottles, shirts, mugs, business tablecloths, and much more.

I started my business because I’ve always had a passion for crafting. From a young age, I made my own custom items, I made DIY decorations for my room, personalized birthday gifts for my family, and my personal favorite ugly Christmas sweaters.

I would never have thought to turn my passion into a job until I discovered the power of social media for a business. Watching videos of other people making crafts and the vast opportunities, inspired me to start my own business. I told my family that I wanted to start making items for others, and so it began. I researched what I needed to start my crafting business, brainstormed what to name my business, and very quickly went out and bought all of my supplies.

Being a full-time student and a business owner can be difficult, but I make it work because hearing how much my customers enjoy my products brings me joy. When summer rolls around and I have a break from school, I plan on really putting my name out there.

I would like to personally invite you to check out my work on Instagram and Facebook page. If you’d like to contact me to place an order you can reach me on my business pages or email!

DJ/ Jockey Music Roots

I am Dewayne Blaq (black) born and raised in Dallas, TX. At a young age, I developed a love for music. As a kid, I pretended to have my own talk show host. I would use my G.I. Joe action figures and my sister’s dolls as my audience.

When I graduated from W.W. Samuel High School, I served in the U.S. Air Force for 5 years. Once I got out of the Air Force I began to DJ and pursued a career in radio. After graduating from broadcasting school, I began my career with ABC Radio Group in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2001. From there I moved on to Memories 97.9 and ESPN Radio. I moved to East Texas in October of 2003 and began working at 1027/1069 The Blaze. I currently work as the Assistant Program Director and Midday On-Air Personality. I am married with 4 children and I am a big Dallas Cowboys and Mavericks fan. Obviously, I am a big music fan. My goal is to become a premier personality in the radio industry.

6 Tips for a Great First Impression
(That won't cost you a penny)

Whether you are on your way to an interview or meeting with a potential client, you want to make sure you present your absolute best self. The steps for getting ready vary for each person, but below are a few tips that do not cost you extra.

Start with your basic hygiene- shower, brush, your teeth, shave. Style your hair cut, placing it out of your face and assure it is dry. A polished look will give you a confidence boost and impress others at first glance.

Think of the setting. Wear proper footwear, iron your cloths, tuck in your shirt. If your slacks are too long, hem them. Do not wear a shirt that you need to smooth down, or a skirt that needs to be lowered every two seconds. The hand movements distract the speaker and draws focus away from the conversation. A carefully thought-out (appropriate for the occasion) demonstrates you know yourself and what you’re walking into.

There’s an old saying “If your 5 minutes early you’re on time. If you’re on time you’re late.” You look amazing, so get there early. Arriving on shows others you respect their time and are eager to meet with them.

Do your homework. Gather any materials and have a game plan. Be ready to answer and ask questions. Being prepared shows a high level of responsible.

Keep comfortable eye contact. Sit up to show your engagement. Use body gestures to show your listening. Make sure that your body stays open so as not to appear cold or interested. Body language speaks volumes.

You’ve done the research, landed the interview, and look amazing; your ready now. Stay positive and speak clearly. Interviews can be scary but take your time avoid fillers such as uh, um and like. Effectively communicating leaves people with a better memory of you.

From the Editors

Behind every obstacle there is an opportunity, we just need to find it. We can all agree that 2020 was a very difficult year. We were all forced to live in a new type of world where pandemics and uncertainty exist.

In the middle of the pandemic, our family discussed how we can let our community know about current events, topics, and issues. That is how G-Force Magazine was created.

Our hope is to be able to offer what the business’s owners need in order to be successful and to provide our full support.

We want to welcome all of our sponsors and everyone who have fully supported the journey of creating the G-Force Media Magazine. It has been a challenge outside of our comfort zones, but has thought us that in the most difficult times it is when we must push harder than ever…

We will continue to work hard, so we may provide the best of our work for years to come. This is just the beginning of G-Force Media Magazine. We know having the full support from our readers, local businesses, and all of you will make our team the strongest Latino American advertising team in East Texas.
